Best of the Best: Polk County 2016
And the winner is…
Kim’s name was drawn after she correctly guessed The Cookie Jar in downtown Bartow as owner of the brilliant ‘CAKE’ sign. The Cookie Jar is a fantastic bakery serving breakfast, lunch, and delicious desserts. We love The Cookie Jar because they embrace the idea of ‘dessert first.’ You can pop in and have fresh made meal or a sweet treat for that afternoon pick-me-up. OR they will package it up to-go style so you can actually have your cake and eat it too!
Great desserts speak to any age and every language. So consider stopping in the next time you need to find a treat that says ‘I love you’ or ‘I love me.’ 😉 They are fluent in cookie!
Bright Idea: Updated Lighting
Updated lighting is a quick way to freshen up a dated room and a great way to save a few dollars on the electric bill. Unattractive cords and fixtures can muddle the beauty of the china kept in the intricately carved hutch or take away from the polished cherry wood table parked beneath it.
Candlelit dinner may be a romantic option, but it’s just too hot in Florida to eat by open flame each night. Crisp, clean lighting can be the ideal way to accent a room laden with your most prized possessions. Like crazy socks and funky glasses, it can be the perfect way to say ‘This is me.’
We all know that a house isn’t a home until you’ve filled it with love and memories -and the smell of fresh baked cookies. While we can’t assist with the baking, we can help you with lighting design to create a space that says ‘This is me.’ Trade in your candlesticks and messy cords and let’s brighten your house to make it a home.
Many are gathering ingredients and dusting off grandma’s secret family recipes for the upcoming feast. As we prepare to spend time with our families and friends this holiday season, we have been overwhelmed by a spirit of thankfulness. While it is not quite Thanksgiving Day, we could not let another day go by without expressing our gratitude to our families, clients, and employees – all of which we consider friends. Thank YOU for your loving support! Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving!!
Before you sign…
… get an electrical inspection!
Good news, (great news, really) the housing market is on the rise! However, from time to time new homeowners find that their dream home has turned into a nightmare, electrically speaking, not in a creepy movie kind of way. Basic home inspections may not find problematic wires or undersized panels.
If your new abode was built 30 years ago OR has had remodel work done within the last 10 years, you should spring for an electrical inspection before you close the deal. Just because the lights come on doesn’t mean everything is mechanically sound within the home. Homeowners tend to be ‘creative’ when adding switches or circuits, and that can lead to major, costly, damage down the road.
Be an informed buyer! If an electrical inspection comes back with issues this can, in some cases, be used to negotiate a lower price due to extra expenses. These issues should be mediated by a licensed electrician. I hear Cross Wired Electrical is excellent. 😉
Unless, of course, you are the type that likes to learn that you mustn’t run the hair dryer, TV, and microwave at the same time…or the ceiling fan will short. While the mystery might be fun for the sleuth addicts, it’s dangerous. Plus you won’t be able to pop popcorn, blow dry your hair, stay cool, and watch TV at the same time. And let’s be honest, that’s pretty much camping.
